The Milo’s Difference

milo-teaMilo’s really is different. Here’s why:

Fresh-Brewed from Custom Blended Tea Leaves

Most ready-to-drink teas are made from instant tea or tea concentrate. We freshly brew our tea from tea leaves like you do at home (just on a larger scale). This fresh-brewed taste sets our flavor apart and retains the heath benefits.

All Natural

Milo’s really is all natural. Just read our labels!  For example, our Famous Sweet Tea contains only three ingredients – custom-blended teas, filtered water and pure cane sugar. Compare this to other labels with additives that you cannot even pronounce and certainly would not want to put in your body. We think Milo’s is so good because we take the time and spend the extra money to source only the best, natural ingredients!

No Preservatives

Milo’s contains no preservatives. Common tea preservatives are potassium sorbate, citric acid, and sodium benzoate, all of which change the taste and color of tea. While it would be easier to add preservatives to extend our shelf life, we don’t think that is the right thing to do. We are committed to preserving the great, natural taste and purity of Milo’s beverages through manufacturing innovation and quality control.  We refuse to use chemicals and shortcuts to make our job easier.

No Additives

Like preservatives, additives are non-food ingredients added to food and drinks to achieve certain results such as color, texture, flavor, etc. Because Milo’s is always all natural, we don’t need any additives.  It’s that simple!.

Rich in Antioxidants

All teas — green, black or oolong — come from the same plant, Camellia sinensis, and are rich in polyphenols. According to John Weisburger PhD, senior researcher at the Institute for Cancer Prevention in Valhalla, NY, these polyphenols are a type of antioxidant that seeks out cell-damaging free radicals in our bodies and renders them harmless. This is often referred to as “detoxification.” .Dr. Weisburger says, “In my lab, we found that green and black tea had identical amounts of polyphenols.” Weisburger’s researchers also concluded that both green and black teas have about 8 to 10 times the polyphenols found in fruits and vegetables. There are many additional studies that attribute health benefits to the antioxidants found in tea (see additional information on the Antioxidants page link). Because Milo’s Tea is fresh brewed, it has even higher antioxidant levels than most.

Quality Ingredients

From the field to the glass, Milo’s sources every ingredient to ensure only the highest quality for our customers. We personally visit the tea fields in South America, and tromp through the US sugar cane fields to make sure that our suppliers provide us with only the best ingredients available. We require all our suppliers to certify that they will adhere to our stringent quality and safety standards, as well as manage rigorous, voluntary programs of our own.

Business Focus

Our business maintains a laser sharp focus on one thing -— providing the best all natural beverages in the market.

Family-Owned

Milo’s Tea Company is a family owned business. The Carlton family proudly carries on the tradition of uncompromising quality and commitment to its customers established by founders, Milo and Bea Carlton back in 1946.

Certified Women-Owned Business

We are a certified women-owned business, which means we are majority owned and controlled by women.  We were certified through an in-depth certification process administered by the Women’s Business Enterprise National Counsel (WBENC), a third-party certifier of businesses owned and operated by women in the United States.

Stewards of the Community

Milo’s cares about the people and the world it serves. We are honored to donate thousands of gallons of Milo’s each year to charities, nonprofits and other organizations.

Protectors of the Environment

Milo’s is committed to protecting the environment through responsible manufacturing.  We recycle our tea leaves into commercial potting soil. Through this program, we have diverted thousands of tons of waste from the landfill and reduced the amount of soil components that are imported.
